1988 Nissan Pathfinder wacky gauges

The fuel and temperature gauges in my 1988 Pathfinder recently starting malfunctioning and then working for a short period of time. They both work when I start it in the morning and then don’t work much of the day. Can anybody help me?

Check for a bad ground connection in the dashboard area.
