1987 Ford Taurus V6 problem

Other than the year that is. When I am driving, and accelerating, my car has recently had the habit of slowing down. It will feel as if I need to press down to keep speed, then go back to normal. No engine noise. Will usually drop 5-10 mph before going back to normal.

So what is it? Brakes? Trans? Expensive?

Does it run rough at the same time or just slow down? Fuel filter? That’s a cheap place to start.

Your year is good. It means that the oxygen sensor('s) is / are bad. These were engine candy in the eighties. The engine would chew it, then the flavor would run out when it was done. Used to cost $60 for one at the ford dealer. You may need the part number from the original at the dealer.
