1982 Porsche 928 - Gas leak

The tank has to be plastic welded.

Why not just take it to a Porsche dealer and have it properly repaired.

Porsche dealer to repair a 40 year old car? I doubt it, they aren’t going to patch the fuel tank.

People are asking $750 to $1250 for used fuel tanks on Ebay.

Have found a company in VA who do this type of repair but will not do fuel tanks because of insurance purposes, they are however willing to train me on plastic welding and I am looking forward to learning a new skill will keep you posted and thanks for the responses

Just an update I found a company, Virginia Plastic Welding in King William VA owned by Bob Leuchtmann he was a great help, and very knowledgeable.
he can be found at VirginiaPlasticWelding.com.
One more issue out of the way. Thanks all

Did he fix it for you or did he instruct you on how to do it yourself?

Very true. The plastic bottle super-glue comes in, it’s made of PE, b/c even super glue won’t stick to it. The only way I’d diy-driveway-attempt even a plastic weld on a gas tank is if the tank were completely full of water. And even then I’d be reluctant.

He provided instructions his insurance wont allow him to work on gas tanks

And maybe you should not do that either .

So it’s fixed? Tell us how you did it.

What were his instructions?
