I have a 79 Fleetwood,425 engine- When the engine is cold and I turn the key, I have to pump the gas pedal 3-5 times before the engine will turn over. When the engine has been running recently and I turn the key, it fires right up.
I am worried that this might be the warning signs of something going wrong, and I would like to keep this vehicle maintained.
Thanks!
There may be a check valve in the fuel line that is leaking and is supposed to keep the fuel from leaking back into the tank while the car is parked.
Fuel injected or carb?
Carb.
