My sister had this exact problem on a 1972 mecury comet its the fuel filter to close to the manifold wrap with tinfoil and the car will run until the pushrods bend in -20 below zero
temperature
Been there killed it
I was assuming the carb was a stock one but if it’s the 1406 Edelbrock those are good carbs. I have several old cars around with 1406s on them and have never had any issues with vapor lock on them. One engine has 2 of them.
Of course, these cars are also fitted with a 1" thick phenolic block and a 3/4" block depending upon the car.
The bogging at idle could be due to a vacuum leak, incorrect float level in the carb, mixture screws out of adjustment on the carb, or possibly an idle passage partially clogged.
You might consider removing the mixture screws and blast the opening out with some aerosol carb cleaner. Watch the eyes of course. Reinstall the screws and try about 1 and 1/2 turns out on each one. If they’re out too far that can cause an excessively rich idle mix and bogging. Hope that helps.

I’ve been watching Mythbusters episodes on DVD of late, and one I watched the other day, they were trying to decide if a person was standing at the end of the boom on one of those boom-ladder trucks, and the boom was holding up a car engine, and the chain holding the engine snapped, if the boom could rebound and toss the person over a house. They found a used boom truck to experiment with, which the owner didn’t want b/c the engine didn’t work reliably. So the owner gave it to Mythbusters gratis. Mythbusters staff decided the engine problem was the carb so they removed the carb, which was a good sized one, and used some cans of carb cleaner to spray into the holes and clean it out. The staff member doing this job – Carrie, the redhead – she forgot to follow that eye warning posted by OK above and got a dose of carb cleaner in her eye. She wasn’t a happy camper … lol … No long term adverse affects fortuneatly. But you’d think the Mythbusters techs would know about that carb-cleaning needing goggles thing.
Didn’t those idiots accidentally fire a cannon ball into someone’s house ?
lol … yeah, that seems to be a story they prefer to not talk about … lol … I haven’t seen that episode yet. I don’t have cable tv and never heard of Mythbusters until recently. So I’m watching the episodes now on DVD. I think that cannon thing, they just mis-aimed a little … well, you know how hard cannons are to aim. I think the cannon ball went in one side of the house and out the other. Fortunately no one was hurt.

"Tester im definutly looking for a gas station that sell gas without ethanol but its been hard than i thought…argh"
My state has many gas stations (rural areas I would think), some near me, that sell Rec 90 gasoline for recreational off-road vehicles (4-wheelers & snow mobiles). It is higher octane than regular 87 and has no ethanol.
The pump warns that it is for off-road use and has no road tax. It’s illegal for cars.
You’d have to promise that you won’t use it in a car. I know I never do.
