I have an 09 Mini Cooper I just put a new clutch in. And I got everything back together went to go start the car and the ignition now turns on and turns right back off makes all the intro and outro noises like it should but just won’t start???
I’m wondering if you got a problem w/the wiring to the starter motor. If so when you turn the key to start it might be shorting out the battery, which would make the lights turn off and put you back to square one. Replacing the clutch may involve removing the starter motor to gain needed access, so this idea is definitely in the mix imo. In the meantime be cautious as an engine fire could result from shorted starter wiring.
