'01 Mazda 626 won't start in cold

My '01 Mazda 626 automatic doesn’t like to start in cold weather. One day it’s fine, the next it won’t start. We’ve taken it to our trusted repair shop a handful of times (last winter) and they couldn’t find a single thing wrong with it. It wouldn’t start, we had it towed, then it started just fine once there, of course.

When the key is turned, it clicks, and everything else starts up, just not the engine. I’ve heard this is a common problem with Mazdas.

It’s not any of the obvious things, otherwise the shop would have figured it out.

Any ideas/tips? We’d like to keep it until next spring and don’t want to put any money into it.

Not so fast. Maybe try another shop.

Ok, just don’t expect it to start reliably.
