Well, in the '50s & '60s, car owners in The UK and Australia couldn’t have driven very fast–unless they could afford an Aston-Martin, or a Jag or an Austin-Healey. Variations of this model were sold from 1953-1961:
10 horsepower?
Yikes!

Those are some kind of administrative hp ratings. Actual hp was something like 36. Look out!!
Wow!
So, it would have been able to compete with a VW Beetle!
One of the British dramas I watch is ‘Midsomer Murders’, often amazed at how fast they drive on those narrow road. Granted it’s TV, but still!
+1
That is also one of my favorite Brit TV shows. The personal car of the original Chief Inspector Barnaby was one of these Rover sedans:
The government-issued car–which was usually driven (badly) by his underling–was one of these Ford Mondeos:
Just like here with HOLLYWOOD doing high speed chases through downtown citys at rush hour when no one else can move due to conjestion
Or on Bluebloods, they always have a handy parking space in NYC.
For a few months in 1966, Burt Reynolds starred in a mediocre TV police drama titled “Hawk”. His unmarked car was a gigantic Pontiac Bonneville, and he always found a parking space big enough to pull-in, without needing to straighten-out the car.
Even in Greenwich Village, with its old, narrow/crowded streets, he always managed to find parking space at least 3 car-lengths long, directly in front of his destination. Why is it that I always had to drive in circles for a long time in order to finally find a parking space into which my car would barely fit?
Your contract ran out.
Your self-righteousness is appalling.
That’s a lot of French Poodles … !
Do you ever use Google Map’s street view function to Google-drive on the same roads you see on tv shows or books? I may be the only person in the world that does this, but I find it pretty fun.
It was a parody of a giant SUV in a comedy routine.
Oh yes…I do a lot… I served in the Air Force over 30-years and lived in 17 different places on 6-different continents and I often go back to these locations to see how they changed…
Before the pandemic, I taught computer classes at our local Senior Center and at two local libraries and I showed this trick to all the students.
There are a lot of retired military in my area; nearby are an Air Force Base, an Army Base and a Navy Base. And in my senior classes there were often foreign born wives. One in particular was a lady born in Scotland who married an American GI. I was showing them how they could google their old childhood homes and such. Her sister inherited the childhood home and still lived there. She had not been back to see her sister in many, many years. She Google her old home and 'Lo 'n behold, her sister was out in the front yard waving at the Google Car as it drove by… She started to cry… It was beautiful!
Another lady in my class wanted to show off her beach front home on the outer banks of North Carolina, but unfortunately the view was blocked, a BFI Blue Garbage Truck was making a pickup from her home as the Google Car drove by… It was hilarious…
And a Teaching moment for all the CarTalk members, I also taught my students how to go to their city or county web page and look up their property and how it is classified on the tax rolls. When we first bought our home, I thought the square footage was out of wack, it turned out that they had the “floored attic” classified as a finished room. I took photos, took it to the accessor’s office and they corrected the size of our home and it reduced the property tax by about $400 a year. The previous 3-owners had paid this extra tax for over 15-years…
So Google away, one and all…
I have looked up a few homes but I do go to the assessors site once in a while. Mainly to see if the got my check and recorded it. It pretty accurate except the pictures are old. They still show a car for sale in the driveway that I sold in 2010. They got the price I paid for the lot though ten times higher than what paid. Interesting though.
Showed a bud street view, and his wife was caught walking the dog. In MN street view came up with view of bike trail from a bicycle! I was looking because I was behind a google cam and wanted to see myself HWY 371 south of Pequot lakes.
