You make an vague reference to the integer 767 and you expect us to take you seriously? C’mon…
Alright, BOEING 767. Most folks alive since the 1970s know that “727”, 747, 767 are references to Boeing airliner models. And the 19-20-21-inch diameter wheels now installed on cars since the 2010s would seem to make more sense on the landing gear of airliners than on passenger cars.
I gotcha, When you said 767 all I could think of was the tire size and not the wheel diameter. I worked close to the Nashville airport for a while and had some guys that would pay me to dispose of (properly) their airplane tires (only a few at a time) and I would look at them compared to the other tires almost in amazement at the size and WEIGHT of them (very thick), even the small “200 MPH max speed tires” were crazy heavy, I would get a kick out of reading the max speed printed on them, IIRC 600 or 660 MPH was the highest I saw…
So that is all I could think of not the wheel size… But yeah, 26" + wheels with 25 series rubber bands are just ridiculous…
I remember talking to some farmers about some Combine tires (I think it was) years ago and I was going to have them dropped shipped to his farm, they were like $1600+ each my cost… lol
FINALLY someone sees where I was going with this! You should have seen me in high school - I had a tendency to speak entire in obscure metaphors, nobody knew WHAT I was talking about, and I made few friends. Probably due to my crazy '70s upbringing.
We could be related…
Like I said, it was a duhhhhh moment as soon as I read your reply…
If it makes you feel any better, I got the 767 reference right away. Had to spend some time on google for some ridiculous examples
ebay link to 26" gold wire rims for Box-style Monte Carlo
ebay link to 30" rims for the Escalade
I got the reference…
From your posts, it seems we have another tire engineer on the forum?
Y E S.
Those examples represent my perception of the wheel-to-body proportion of many post-2000s- vehicles!
Would there be any issues with that, if there were?
Not at all!, Welcome.
Tire questions abound… always good to have reinforcements for CapriRacer.
