Do you think that the left lane hog learned the lesson the cop imparted?
I did not watch it, but you said no ticket was issued. So yes that I would consider no enforcement. At least the trooper did something, in Florida LEOs just pass on the right.
Probably not.
Itās very possible that he was driving one of the below-posted speed cars that I passed on the right, the other night, on I-78.
Yup! posted speed is 65 mph.
The prevailing speed is 70-74 mph, and at night there were a few doofuses lolling along in the left lane at around 60 mph.
Reckless operation by the police car. In one State, itās actually the law to slow down 10 MPH and/or move over if being followed too closely. It can also be unsafe to change lanes when a vehicle is so close behind.
Not a wise move, in Florida, many drivers carry 357 Magnums. Just move over into the correct lane.
Gutsiest move I ever saw, on a four lane road, a guy in the left lane matched speed with a driver that was legally driving slow in the right lane. Traffic piled up behind the left lane loafer, the offer refused to move out of the way. Guy in the right lane saw what was happening, pulled up in front of the loafer, held him there until all of the traffic was able to pass on the right.
What an awful mess!
This sh__ would never fly on highways in Germany or elsewhere in Europe.
To speed-limit-obeyers like myself: Just KEEP RIGHT and avoid this drama as much as possible.
Itās not a Mensa-level or Rhodes scholar concept to grasp.
First of all Chris Mr. Google seems to think that Germany also has a problem with people driving in the left lane. Maybe you should move to another country as you seem to be really unhappy in the US if that is where you actually are. You keep telling us how much better your are at driving but I would think that most long term members on Cartalk donāt need driving instruction.
Lead, follow or get out of my way⦠![]()
And the above sentiments - again, Iām critiquing the messages here, and not the messengers - lead to situations such as the one Purebred brought up:
āGutsiest moveā¦ā , a few comments prior.
I will try to make this a simple as possible. Left lane loafers rarely receive tickets in America.
Oh great one, how would you deal with it?
Sorry, I thought I was replying to Wonderful 90s.
I wish more cops would do thisā¦
Not all LEOās you see on the highway are traffic ticketing cops, as well as they may not even be in their respective ticketing area, most cops, around here anyway, wonāt crossover into another cop area to wright tickets unless they see you doing something really stupid⦠Think of LEOās like a large store, just because they work at said store that doesnāt mean they work in that departmentā¦
Yet if you are an 18 year old girl in a bikini every LEO will stop to change your flat tire.
So will most 60 year oldās with a bad back also⦠![]()
Around here if on the interstate, they will just pull over blocking the car from getting hit and radio TDOT to come out and change the flat tire, havenāt seen a LEO change a tire in decades..
Driving in the left lane in MA is done all the time. Many people drive below the speed limit in the left lane. Most of the time you can drive faster in the right lane because no one is there. Part of that problem is the old, antiquated highway system. There are stretches on I-93 where there will be 3-6 entrances and exits within one mile. Drive in the right lane and youāre constantly either braking or moving over to allow someone onto the highway.
I get it now.
Promoting the style/culture of driving Iām promoting in this country is akin to p___sing in the wind, lol! Even though I have seen a couple of sign on CT highways stating āSlower Traffic Keep Rightā.
āDrive in any lane you like, at any speed you preferā, seems to be the mantra here, and I will avail of that very freedom to drive as I have read about in other countries, European and Asian.
Each time Chris posts, several members post a lecture on safe driving, as though they donāt recall already doing so. Half of the activity on this forum is bickering about driving manners and complaint about āold treadsā.
Someone living on an island poses no threat to the traffic conditions in Nevada, why should it upset people in other states?
Things seemed to have changed. It wasnāt long ago that someone stated that if a motorist attempted to drive the speed limit, they would be forced off the road.
Grow up little boy. Iām NOT promoting any driving style. You really do have some serious little boy mental issues.
Iāve seen it and it DOES happen. Come to MA and see for yourself.
I was referring to myself promoting the driving I would like to see, not anyone else.
