I duck-ducked and googled, dual side mirrors simply means sideview mirrors on both sides of a vehicle. I was thinking more that it meant multiple element side mirrors on each side, some convex, some flat, like what you see on the sides of a semi cab or school bus. No. Just a mirror on both sides.

Side view mirrors were not needed when the county only had two lane roads. The advent of the multi-lane roads made the side view mirrors necessary. BTW, my 90 Dodge Colt only had one side view mirror.

Pickups did not come with rear bumpers so you could choose your own aftermarket. Common to see heavy duty step bumpers with trailer hitch. Occasionally see a vice mounted on the bumper. Back then trucks were more often used as trucks.

I bought a bottom of the line 1965 Rambler Classic 550 back in 1965. It did not have either a left or right side mirror, no backup lights and no windshield washer. New Hampshire. I get it. But I have no problem with common-sense mandates, such as dual-side mirrors, seatbelts at every position, airbags, brake lights, turn signals.
