What are your recommendations in choosing one of these sports cars?

Well, we are fantasizing!

I guess you think everyone knows what a FR-S is . That was under the Toyota brand Scion which was discontinued in 2016 . Now known as the Toyota 86 or the related Subaru BRZ.

On top of the 2024 BRZ that he already owns??

Since you already own a BRZ, why not just mod it??

Interesting question and Mustangman hit it right, if you’re looking for a car that can only deliver it’s maximum benefits on a track. These are all great cars but remind me of a racing sailboat, usable for 3 weekends a year.

OTOH if you’re considering something that you can actually use, is great fun on the road AND the track, the Mazda Miata sportscar would be my first choice followed by some of the performance sedans like the BMW M2, straight 6 and turbocharged.

As other people have pointed out this person bought a new Subaru BRX in Dec. 2024.

I think OP is straight out trolling us

But he seems to be in good company

All the OP’s choices are capable road cars as well as being great track cars. Technology has made track weapons far more streetable than those of the past. The original Corvette big blocks would stumble and overheat in traffic as did the Jaguar XK120 and every Ferrari. Today’s performance cars can idle in traffic with the AC on and click off lap after lap and not overheat oil, trans fluid, diff fluid or the engine. And they are much faster and handle far better

The performance handling packages of earlier cars rode like buckboards. The inclusion of electronically controlled suspensions allows a more comfortable ride on the street and racecar like performance on the track… My Mustang Mach 1 is a great example of that. My ‘13 Mustang GT had lots of aftermarket parts to make it track capable. Bone stock on the same Michelin PS4 tires my Mach 1 was 7 seconds a lap faster at its first trackday at Sebring and rides better than my ‘13 did with its MagneRide suspension system.

Though a GT rather than a sports car, and it’s a PHEV, I would choose: Bentley Continental GT S

davesmopar,

Oh no, that little BRZ is now family. I love the little car. I remember when I first bought it I was thinking of supercharging it or turbo charging it, but as I drove it around, that completely ended. I am leaving it a naturally aspirated engine. I already know that I got a great engine so I am not going to mess with it. The only modification I am going to make to it is switching to RCE Tarmac Pro coilovers, yeah, they’re expensive, but those will increase the handling even more on a great handling car.
When I am in my BRZ, the visibility is outstanding, I feel 100% confident driving this car. It is also a really good looking car and yeah, it stands out. You don’t see as many BRZs or GR86s on the road as you do Camaros, Dodges and Mustangs.
The nice thing about this BRZ for anyone who owns a GR86, they are truly fun cars.

Enjoy the pic of my beautiful BRZ.

Mustangman,

Thank you for the info. I have learned so much, and you are one of the people who I can say I have learned from. Thank you. I really appreciate your well thought out replies regardless of what others think of the question.
