How do you know they all burned out at the same time?
Many years ago we remodeled a bathroom and installed one of those light fixtures that has 4 bulbs in a row. I installed all new bulbs and they all burned out within a year of one another. Seems normal to me.
Depending on the vehicle, if the they’re LED bulbs and integrated into circuit board, when one fails they all fail, which would require replacing the entire assembly.

How old is your car? it is rather common for ten-year-old “bulbs” to burn out.
You might not notice CHMSL failure until you observe someone else driving your car.
They were all blown today. I do not know when they “started” to burn out.
Yes, I saw wifey drive away and noticed it. I inspected all bulbs and all filaments were gone. 1 bulb was white and had a hole and the other 4 were still clear.
Is 2003. Kids old car. Supposedly rear hatch was replaced in 2014. Got hit in rear
I replaced all bulbs in dash and hvac 2 yrs ago. It has green indicator on dash that means drl lights are on. When you turn on headlights the green light goes off.
2003? Now you must consider whether the bulbs cost more than the value of the car. 
Kid said I can sell it. Runs good. Good ac. No body damage.
Now that taillight housings include CAN modules and blind spot radar modules that idea may not be too far off in the future.
Had a customer way back when that had the Cady with the twin LED CHMSL (looked like a single light until) in the deck lid, well one side burned out so he wanted to replace it ($600), wasn’t long after we replaced it the other side went out, he said one side was enough for him, he wasn’t paying another $600 for the other side… Dealer only back then… To date, never seen or heard of anyone getting a ticket for the CHMSL not working in my area…
Seems to depend on tge specific jurisdiction but you can be pulled over for not having tail or brake lights not visibility working. Including the 3rd light in the middle.
I’ve been with a family friend in a rental car and we were stopped by wsp for no tail lights. Friend didn’t realize the drl’s didn’t turn on the taillights. Turned the headlights on to prove the lights worked and we were sent on our way.
In my state, you must turn on the headlights whenever the weather/conditions reduces visibilty.
But, most vehicles now have DRL’s. So, most people who own these vehicles don’t turn on the headlights because they think the DRL’s are good enough. Not realizing that their tail lights aren’t on. Then when they get rear ended in the fog, they can’t figure out how that happened.

That depends on the manufacturer and model of car. I owned a 1999 Monte Carlo that had DRL’s. Believe or not you kept the light switch in the “off” position and the DRL’s were on. In the daytime the taillights were off but there was a light sensor on the dash and when it got dim the rear lights would come on too! Was Chevy ahead of there time? My Chevy Volt light position is “Auto”. Works just like my Monte did. I never touch it.
That has changed, at least with Toyota/Lexus vehicles. As of 2022, the tail lights are lit up when the DRLs are activated. I don’t know whether this applies to other makes as well, but I suspect that Toyota/Lexus aren’t the only models with upgraded lighting.
I’m sure… High mounts may be required here too, just never seen or heard of anyone getting a ticket just for the high mount being out… However, they will tell you about it being out if you also have a (lower) brake light out…
They will stop you in a heart beat if a (lower) brake light is out, and some if a tag light is out even if the other tag light will illuminate the tag…
Any passenger vehicle is required to have the center high stop lamp as of September 1. 1985 and trucks as of 1994. It is to the state to include it in their inspection process.
Having them and working is 2 different things… lol
I never said they weren’t required, just that they are NOT enforced to be working in my part of the world…

There are vehicles with DRL’s that were built before 2022, and most aren’t Toyota’s/Lexus.
I just stated an observance I’ve seen many times during rain, snow, sleet, fog , smoke, etc…
And that’s people driving in those condition without their HEADLIGHTS on.

I have observed the same thing, quite a few times. That is why I’m very glad that it has started to change.

Of course!
I was merely pointing-out that this needed change began at least a few years ago.
