Just the other day I paid $50 for 1.5 L of olive oil. And the product was on sale! OMG, normal price close to $70!
The car-related part: As mentioned above, OP could probably save a few $$'s by using plain water or water + a little hand-dishwashing soap as long as the temperatures remain above freezing. Freezing temps are not much of a problem even in the winter here, and I haven’t purchased that product in 20 years or more.
I’m not into olive oil. Ya go to Italy and ya get a bowl free every time you eat. Just never could get used to it.
What I did notice was the cost of a can of 12 oz Minwax wood filler. Used to repair wood riot and works great. When I bought it a few years ago at Lowe’s I’m pretty sure it was right around $10 because I got that and the fiber stiffener for a total of $20. Had to buy another can and Lowe’s was $18, Menards $17, and ace $19. I bought from Lowe’s but tonight just picked another can up at ace. Cheaper than a couple patio doors.
If you have wood or wood clad doors, check the bottoms of the styles. Water just gets sucked up and the ends rot. Clean the loose rot out, use the stiffener, and the stuff is just like body filler fixing rust. Once the filler is on, water won’t be absorbed anymore.
I asked him and he says he’s used it but can’t remember the last time he did. Given that he’s 17, it can’t be more than a year and a half ago.
Some people insist their cruise control works, some wouldn’t spend a dime to fix it. I still don’t see washer fluid as a necessity, and I’ve driven winter mountain passes in the snow and slush plenty, and have plenty of bugs and dust in the summer. I can always see to drive just fine.
Funny, I hear an online friend talk about Menards quite a bit, closes one to me is an hour away in KY, that is about the furthest the stores come south… Sounds like a good store…
They are mainly in the Midwest but also Ohio, Chicago, Iowa, etc. the founder was a tight wad and very careful with money. He also was anti union and refused to hire anyone that had ever belonged to a union. But it’s a good store and good products except maybe the cheaper power tools. I’m not sure who is in control anymore.
… and if you own an HP printer, don’t try to economize by buying printer cartridges in advance of your actual need. I did that, and found out the hard way that the chip in HP cartridges has an embedded expiration date, and my brand-new cartridges could not be “mated” with the printer.
I keep my car’s windshield washer bottle full and I keep a spray bottle with windshield washer fluid in it (cheaper than Windex…) in the garage. I usually clean my windshield (if needed) prior to going out due to dust, pollen, birds, etc… Using the windshield washers while driving uses up the fluid really fast, especially if you are using it for “defensive driving”… Additionally, the wiper blades just scrap the debris off. I seldom see anyone wipe the road debris off the wipers except, maybe, when washing the car…
I mentioned “Defensive Driving” earlier… Prior to the escalation of Road Rage Incidents, if someone was tailgating me, I would "clean my windshield, really, really good. Tailgaters usually pull way back not knowing what’s splatting on their windshield.
So, you can use a “cap-full” in your driveway, or a “cup-full” while driving with most blowing over the roof of your car…
… especially in view of the drastic reduction in the olive harvest in Spain, as a result of climate change. When the world’s largest producer of high-quality EVOO is unable to meet the demand, prices soar.
