VTEC Spool Gasket & Distributor Disassembly Leaking

I have a '98 Honda Accord. I recently took it to the dealer for the major service. I have over 120k miles. They told me I have two internal leaks in the VTEC spool gasket and the distributor disassembly. I don’t know what any of this means. They told me it would cost about $726 to get both items taken care of. Has anyone had these leaks before and how much does it cost to fix?

Does oil drip on the ground? (Place paper under the car overnight, then idle for a couple of minutes to test.)

Do you have to add oil between changes?

If no to both questions then leave it alone. The dealer is fishing for work.

There’s usually no point bringing an out of warranty car to the dealer. An independent shop will probably offer a better price.

Thanks for the reply. I don’t see any oil dripping. The dealer told me I wouldn’t see any oil dripping because the leaks are internal. I’ve been going to the same dealer for the life of the car. They’re usually pretty honest but they charge a premium. I’m currently out of work and every dollar is important. I think I still should get a second opionion. Thanks again for your reply.
