I’ve got a 2000 VW passat (turbo) - the check engine light is on as well as the emissions workshop 1. installed a new mass air flow sensor, air leaks were checked, and the light went on again (both).
Now the mechanic thinks there is a problem with valve 3. could this be the reason for the check engine light and the emissions workshop 1 light to go on?
Should I go ahead and spend yet more $? I can’t get the !?!? car inspected!
You can read the codes from your car for free at most auto parts stores. Post the results here. No need to pay a dealer $100 to figure out why the check engine light is on.
Then again sometimes paying a decent VW mechanic $100 for a diagnosis will save you far more. It is obvious in this case someone is reading codes and throwing parts at it.
