My wife and I took a ride to pick up dinner earlier this evening. We were on a fairly major highway in our township. As we were passing a law office that recently opened in our township, my wife mentioned that the lawyers that opened the office formerly worked in her office, and that they were criminal defense attorneys that specialized in motor vehicle work; DUIs, Suspensions, Revocations, and other related cases. What made me laugh was the slogan on their sign underneath their names: “Just because you did it doesn’t mean you’re guilty”. That made me laugh, and I’m still chuckling. I think it may be the best slogan I’ve ever seen for a law firm. I’m curious what other’s thoughts may be. And yes @cdaquila it is car related. These lawyers specialized in driver’s license cases.
A local TV attorney in this area once advertised something to the effect (can’t remember the exact words) Just because you are at fault for the accident doesn’t mean that you can’t sue and win big money.
You could be like Murdaugh and help someone sue you (insurance co) and then keep money
You can be sued by anyone for anything. Doesn’t mean you’ll win.
Corporate lawyers suing individuals for smaller companies are by far the worse predators. The little guy can/will go bankrupt defending themselves. In most cases it’s not worth defending it. And many people may have a fantastic case against a large corporation or entity and that corporation will keep prolonging that lawsuit for years if not decades hoping the plaintiff drops the suit or settles at pennies on the dollar.
I once heard from a successful lawyer that a not guilty plea meant that the accused wants an opportunity to explain himself in court. He is not necessarily declaring himself not guilty of the charges.
And that is a funny sign.
Funny slogan for the law firm, no doubt about that. I’m reminded what Pontius Pilot said when a “truth” argument was attempted. Pilot: “What is truth?” The whole basis of even our so-called “modern” legal system seems to be that “truth” as a concept, does not exist. Money exists however, so whoever has the most money wins.
We had a real life situation similar to that on the Baltimore Beltway recently. Two drivers were speeding in a construction zone and collided. The slower car flipped over the barrier and killed 6 workers. The faster driver was going 122 mph and the slower 108 mph. Surprise! At least one was charged with DUI and it was during daylight hours.
