I have a problem with my Renault Megane IV RS turbo.
Since I bought it, sometimes my turbo does not activate. It is like I have an atmospheric car.
To fix it, I have to turn off the car and turn on again, and it works.
It happens so many times and there are no warnings in the dashboard neither in the OBD machine.
Why can it happen? Does anybody else have the same problem?
Nobody else in this forum is likely to have that problem because this is a US-based forum, and Renaults haven’t been sold here for more than 30 years. Perhaps a Renault-centric forum would be more likely to provide some specifics. Bon chance!
Ops! Didn’t know that. I have talked with Renault but they don’t know about this issue. I will go to a Renault center again to see if they find the issue.
Thanks!!
You probably shouldn’t tell them anything but the symptoms. If you tell them it’s the waste gate and it isn’t, you will have cost yourself the price of the “repair” and not be any closer to a real fix. Suggestions made here are with good intentions but we are a long way from your car and usually cant offer proper repair advice.
Please let us know what the problem turns out to be. Many USA cars sport turbos these days too, so your solution may be helpful here for USA posters searching this forum w/similar problems. Best of luck. fyi, the UK magazines Car Mechanics,Practical Classics, and Classics Monthly often address turbo repair issues, esp for older Euro-cars.
