I have a 05 subaru forester with a 5 speed manual transmission. I want to switch it out to an automatic. Is this a realistic option and what might it cost me?
Technically it could probably be done, but in terms of cost you’re looking at multiple thousands of $$.
You’d be much better of financially to sell yours and buy an automatic.
Not realistic, due to expense of labor, parts, and degree of difficulty. Sell the manual and buy a similar car with an automatic. You should come close to breaking even. Whatever extra the auto car costs you will be much less than the conversion costs.
