I finally convinced my buddy to change his tranny fluid and filter. Two weeks ago we dropped the pan and drained the black fluid out, changed the filter and gasket. We’re dropping the pan again today to change the fluid again. Do I need a new gasket? The one we put in was a rubber one…I figured I could re-use it???
You probably could. But they’re also very cheap. I’d have one on hand.
Presumably this time the filter isn’t being changed again? If not you can use some manner of fluid pumping to pull the fluid out the dipstick tube instead of pulling the pan again.
Correct…Just the fluid is being changed. I just dropped the pan so am now at that point where If I need to change the gasket, I need to know. As I said, it is a rubber gasket only two weeks old. Change or not?
