I have a new to me 2017 tow dolly with ST145/R12 10 ply load range E, yes a 12" 10 ply tire.. lol
80 max psi
Load Capacity 1520 Pounds
Manual says to run 75psi
Sticker says 80psi
I checked @CapriRacer ST psi info link and it starts at 13" tires…
I will be towing the 2009 Cobalt (ugg) about 60 miles back home, just triple checking to run 75-80psi..
I had planned on doing some trial runs around the neighborhood, but the brake pads rusted solid to the rotors over winter, why someone put semi metallic pads on it I will never know… had to beat the pads off the rotors, total PITA… lol
My 12” 4x8 trailer tires say 60 psi. I get a little gun shy when I get up over 50 though remembering the neighbor dad in a cast after his truck tire blew up on him. But hey capris is the expert. I’d just stand aside a little.
You also need to do some research on tire pressure in the tires when you are towing the dolly without a load… That Tow Dolly will bounce all over the place when you hit a bump if there is no vehicle being towed… and once it bounces once, the dolly will rebound a couple of more times…
The first time I hit a speed bump with ours without a load, it bounced so high I was afraid that it might have damaged the hitch… I lower the pressure in ours to around 25 PSI. However, you should consult the tow dolly’s manual for the manufacturer’s specific recommendations, as some may suggest pressures as low as 10-15 PSI when you are merely towing the dolly without a load.
I carried a DC powered air pump to re-inflate the tires to proper level when I needed to tow a vehicle…
I’d run what the manual says - although 75 psi sounds a bit high. Keep an eye on it when you first start out. If it bounces too much, you might want to lower the pressure.
Travel trailers have a very high tire pressure. I’ve owned 2 pop-up trailers and each one had a recommended tire pressure of 80psi. Both used 12" tires.
