Torque convertor - 2005 Nissan Xterra

I have a 2005 Nissan Xterra that has been in the shop 4 times for the same vibration and whining problem. When the car reaches approximately 40 mph it vibrates (feels like when you drive over one of the highway rumble strips) and it makes a continuance whine when shifting gears. The dealership-where we bought the vehicle is now telling us that this is normal. Ha - it doesn’t seem normal to me. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. The vehicle is under extended warrenty, but unfortunately I have to bring it back to the dealership for repairs.

Thanks

No, it is definitely not normal. Tell them you had a transmission specialist look at it already and he says it is not normal. Take it to a local transmission shop (NOT a chain shop) and have them put that in writing. You will probably have to pay for a diagnostic and the write up but it will still save you in the long run. I dont know of one transmission guy that would say this is normal.
