To sell or NOT to sell, that is the question

A727 and A904/998/999 transmissions were/are one of the very reliable transmissions… The little A904 is capable of 600+ HP on slicks…

A city bought 84 minivans for airport ground transportation. Within the first week, 14 were in the shop with sheared ring gear pin. I was the one who inspected/identified the initial few. Don’t know how many more ended up with the same fate.
Based on your screen name, you have vested interest in chrysler. I don’t.

The local cab company with 400+ vehicles used Dodge Caravans for years.

I think what ever nofyfb ( a little imagination will see what that stands for ) says I just might do the opposite.

Yeah, Caravans are the most commonly used van based Taxi, if they were anywhere as bad as you think they are, cab company’s would not be using them for all these years…

Most of the pre electronically controlled transmissions had issues when 1st out with the FWD versions, lots of electronically controlled transmissions are having valve body and TCM issues…

I am an older Mopar car guy, nothing since the Daimler Chrysler days, so I hold no vested interest in Chrysler since then… However I do love the Scat Packs, SRT(8)'s, Hellcats and alike…

Remember that even Toyota had blown head gasket issues back years ago, so NO vehicle company makes a perfect vehicle, they ALL have issues, warranty work is what keeps a lot of dealerships in business, every new vehicle dealership service department I have every been in for whatever reason is mostly full of new cars being repaired…

I’ve noticed that too. The bays are almost always 100% filled w/brand-new looking cars up on the lifts being fiddled with. I’ve always thought that most of that work was for routine maintenance, but hard to say what % is for repairing serious faults. I don’t recall this “new cars on the lifts” thing as much in the 1960’s through early 70’s. There were some, but fewer total bays, and only a few of the bays were being used. But maybe I wasn’t looking carefully.

Back in the mid to late 90"s I worked for 2 brothers that owned a new car dealership and they said that new car warranty repairs is what made them the most money, now I never saw their books or talked to their CPA, but I did know a lot of people at different dealerships that said the same thing… And I noticed that most of the bays were filled with new car repairs, and that is the way it was when I worked for the dealerships also… But I have no prof other wise, just what I saw and by talking to people in the know… That was also when family’s owned and operated most of the dealers, now it is almost all lawyers and investment company’s, at least in my area…

@texases you do know what perks up my imagination. Why did anyone ever go to the trouble of designing an engine with the complexity of overhead valves combined with the poor breathing of side valves?

@old_mopar_guy
The reasoning for the F-head engine is that the exhaust valves would run cooler in the engine block, while the engine would be more efficient with the intake valves in the cylinder head.

Additionally, because the typical engine of those days was a long-stroke/small bore, the size of the valves in an OHV engine was restricted by the narrowness of the bore. The F-head design allowed for larger valves–both intake and exhaust.

I could be wrong but suspect F heads utilized existing Flathead blocks, much like Studebaker’s OHV 6 used their Flathead blocks.

Be my guest but don’t complain when face the consequences.

When did I say that I would drive anything with 440T4 or 770R4?!? However, to be fair, they are a lot better than A604. Or rather a lot less bad.
I also never said that fiat was involved in A604. I just said that now - when fiat owns chrysler - the latter will fall to the new lows. If it’s only possible, that is.

Funny, the 1999 A604 that I talked about did have 196930 miles on it (I looked) before it finally died from a VERY HARD life with only the ISS and OSS and later a new VB, the VB replacement was the only time the pan was ever dropped, however I also had a Park Ave, 440T4, that had the trans either rebuilt by a couple of well known trans specialist/shops, or replaced with a reman unit 5 or 6 times with in it’s 200,000 mile life… So the A604 was not much worse than many other autos of the day… and I replaced a lot of each back in the day…

And I have said many times on here that I do not like most anything Mopar has built besides the Chargers and Challenger Hemi’s and anything Hellcat, since the MB days…

Basically most of your post all sound like a very angry and frustrated person that only gripes and moans (other words would be flagged) about almost everything and brings nothing to the discussions but doom and gloom and then basically thinks you are the only one right about stuff and say things like don’t complain when face the consequences
Just try to ease up a little…
