Thank you for your kind reminder that I forgot to say what they are.
Are there actually any new cars that donât have a security system?
My number 1 thing that should be standard: the option of NOT getting a sunroof.
or the option to get exactly what you want and to be able to delete what you dont want. like the good old days.
The two Hyundaiâs I leased (2017 sonata and 2019 elantra) didnât come with one.
Really?
I have to say that I am surprised.
*They have been mandatory and âstandardâ in Canada for many years now.
@Docnick Geschlechlichinginie ( What ever that is supposed to be has not been here since 2011 .
Today, very few cars roll out of factories equipped with car alarms. For example, a spokesperson for Toyota, currently the worldâs largest automaker, says that alarms are not standard in their cars.
I stand corrected.
All 3 of the cars that I have bought since 1996 have come from the factory with a standard security system. However, I always opt for the top trim model, so that might explain why I assumed (possibly incorrectly) that all newer cars are so equipped.
Car alarm is a pretty basic term and can mean a lot. Everything from audible, tracking/GPS, keyless, or kill switch. Though there is always room for improvement and to have it come standard with a good car alarm would lower insurance even by a couple bucks. Also the audible one a lot of people hardly gives two cents about it going off.
an electrical shock given to those drivers that need to tap your bumper when they park in a parking spot.
The Corolla L comes standard with an immobilizer, may not have any other security system though.
I would be interested to see if any modern car comes with no immobilizer nowadays.
makes for a nasty surprise when you get to know how much it will be to make a spare keyâŠ
I think even the basic models come with one these days, If the Ford Mach-E is any guide weâll be expected to use our smartphones as the key, getting one fob if at all. GPS is one thing that my dad wouldnât get next time, Hondaâs Satnav has some nice features but he uses it more because itâs there than actually needing it. A $200 Garmin or using GPS on the Android phone works well enough without spending $2,000 plus update costs.
âAnti-theft system with alarmâ is standard on the Camry, Avalon, Sienna, 4Runner, Sequoia and Land Cruiser, alarm systems have become a common feature during the last 20 years.
When I worked at a Dodge dealer in 2008 there were cab and chassis trucks without immobilizers, fleet trucks. Immobilizer systems became standard on most vehicles 15 year ago.
Basic Corolla still uses a traditional key without any keyless entry features, most cars have some sort of alarm standard but Toyota does things a little differently. Dad rented a Matrix back in 2007 that didnât have cruise control or a rear wiper. The cruise would have been handy since he had to cross Kansas to get to Greensburg (Tornado wiped out 95% of the city)
Toyota site shows the Corolla L model is equipped with immobilizer and Corolla hatchback with immobilizer and security alarm as standard.
The Corolla LE has the same alarm as standard,
