BTW, I don’t buy that farm kids are better drivers. Rural areas have far higher traffic fatality rates than urban and suburban ones. Mostly single car accidents, many caused by excessive speed on subpar roads. It’s boring driving long distances out in farm country. There often isn’t anyone around. Makes it very tempting to drive too fast for conditions.
Farm kids have more experience driving-don’t know about better after a while, but they have been driving trucks, tractors, ATVs, etc. for years by the time they get their license. Yes rural roads can be more dangerous due to gravel, hills, curves, speed, animals.
clammppit: Don’t forget to finally look in the direction you are going! Steve Ruple: I experienced this last Saturday night. I was not a driver, I was a pedestrian. I went out of my way to cross in a marked crosswalk. A man and young boy stopped at the curb with me. A car approaching from our left stopped obeying the law. we started to cross. another car was approaching from the right and was slowing. The kid started to run ahead but the adult grabbed and stopped him as the car on the right illegally accelerated through the crosswalk! Never trust another driver. Consider all of them idiots!
I can’t seem to start a thread. I wanted to start a “not really distracted” but really bad drivers/cyclists/ pedestrians thread. Can anybody do this for me?
