Just a reminder, she is stating 1/2 quart of oil for 5000 miles.
You stated that “synthetic oil is better than dino…” What is “Dino” ??
I stand corrected; the dealer’s schedule now calls for every 6 months or 5000 miles, a change from their original version.
Since I drive very little, 6000 miles a year, half of which is highway, and the car is always inside, I go by mileage only. Even then, the level is still right up and the oil is clear.
I’ve never had problems with 15,000 mile changes and i’ve actually met a number of people who had problems with 3,000 mile changes.
And how many miles to you keep this vehicle?? Anywhere 300k miles like I have with 5k mile oil changes…And NOT BURNING ONE DROP OF OIL AT THE 300K mile mark.
“Dino” is a character on the Flintstones.
You might know what he looks like.
Here’s a picture:
When people refer to dino in an oil conversation, they mean conventional motor oil.
Non Synthetic oil, if you want to get a bit more proper.
BC.
Agree; the FREQUENCY of oil changes is more important. If someone put in Mobil 1 and left it in for 10,000 miles of stop and go driving in a cold climate, I would run away from that vehicle.
On the other hand, a normal car using standard “dino” oil and having has changes every 3000 miles would be a good buy…
Just getting back to this to get the latest — No, it’s not sludge. It was just darker than clear. The car is not self-destructing. And the level doesn’t get below the min line. I exaggerated. So sue me… I’m a writer. It’s what we do.
