The “Service 4 WD” indicator light came on and stayed on for about 5 miles this morning. I rarely use the 4WD function usually just using it on a dirt road to make sure it gets used. Would this indicate the need for a fluid change or is something more sinister afoot?
I would get it scanned first. They said on this forum that the TCCM Transfer Case Control Module is what causes it. http://www.dodgedakota.net/boards/dea/132-1.html Another forum said CTM Central Timing Module replacement fixed it. http://www.dakota-durango.com/forum/archive/index.php/t-39101.html Either way you can replace it with one from the salvage yard much cheaper.
