Count my vote for the tires also. Tread design and compound can make a huge difference.
The tires I had once on my prior Lincoln were absolutely horrible on anything other than bone dry pavement. A drive on a wet (no water pooling) highway at 60 MPH pretty much assured a white knuckle drive with both hands digging into the steering wheel and when snow was present I could just about forget even going anywhere.
I’ve actually gotten out of my Lincoln before when 3 or 4 inches of snow was on the drive and stood beside the car with the engine running, in gear, and rear tires happily spinning away. Not a problem; that car was going nowhere.
