Hey- I just spent $2500 on a 90,000 mile check-up and head gasket replacements on my 2002 Subaru Forester at the dealership. I really need to find a good local independent Subaru mechanic in the Cleveland area. I just cannot afford the dealership’s prices. Can anyone help? Please?
Have You Tried Searching The Car Talk Mechanics Files ?

The mechanic files used list what types of cars the mechanics specialize in, but that feature doesn’t seem to be there anymore. I have some acquaintances who drive subarus so I’m going to start there first and will comb through the mechanics files if need be. Thanks.
You can also find a good quality independent general mechanic. There isn’t much on a Subaru that requires a specialist.
Try Stopping At A Couple Of Auto Parts Stores Closest To Where A Convenient Independent Shop Would Be. They Usually Know The Shops That Buy Subaru Parts And Might Know Which Is A Good One.

Maybe not an exact shop, but here’s something to check out:

That sounds right but I’ve had mechanics in the past tell me they don’t work on Subarus. I don’t know why.
That’s a great idea. I will try that. Thank you.
