Reminds me of one of my older brothers when he was in the Navy at Norfolk VA in the late '60s. He and 3 or 4 of his buddies would buy a car for $50 to drive home to Wash. DC on leave. Sometimes they would make the round trip. Sometimes my aunt would have to come rescue them. Once they had to walk the last couple miles to Norfolk. They would ditch the cars where ever they died.
