I HAVE A 1999 PONTIAC TRANSPORT WHEN I START THE VAN IT WILL RUN FOR A FEW SECOND,S THEN SHUT OFF BY ITSELF
And then what? Can you get it to start again?
Does it do this in all weather?
Cold or hot?
How many miles does it have?
How’s the maintenance history been?
It could be a whole range of things. Can you provide more info?
I START IT AGAIN AND THE SAME THING HAPPENS I DON,T NO BECAUSE I JUST GOT THE VAN IT HAS 245 KM ON IT
A faulty ignition module can cause this problem.
Ignition modules function in two modes. These are the START and RUN modes.
When starting the engine the ignition module is in the START mode. It allows full battery voltage to the coil(s) to ensure a cold engine starts. Once the engine starts and the ignition switch goes into the run position, the ignition module goes into the RUN mode. The module then drops the voltage to the coil(s) so the secondary ignition components last longer.
So the problem might be that the ignition module is functioning in the START mode, but failing in the RUN mode.

Please turn off your caps lock.
Do you know anything about the history of the vehicle? Was it sitting idle for an extended period?
You need to get this to a shop. They’ll need to check fuel pump pressure and the ignition system. And that’s just for starters. There are countless possible causes. A bad temp sensor, bad (gummed up due to sitting) injectors, bad fuel, bad fuel pump, almost an endless list. The only good news is that since it starts it’s unlikely to be any of the components controlling the spark or its timing, including the ECU itself. And the starter works.
THANK YOU VERY MUCH I WILL TRY THAT
