Should I buy a 2000 Toyota Echo with 255k on it?

my old neom

the automatiautomatic echo 2003 for 300$

You can’t be serious .

As the others have rather clearly pointed out $4K is an unacceptable asking price for a vehicle with such high miles.

This would be one of those…" I will give you 500-1000 bucks for it " type of deals…and the $1000 mark would really be difficult to pull out of my wallet for a vehicle like this.

Your argument to or with the seller can go something like this… There is no telling how much longer this vehicle will last or run…and if things like the entire braking system has not already been replaced…it will soon need to be…etc… This sort of thing. 4K is pure insanity and should not even be considered whatsoever.

Its 2020…and there are a lot of good used cars in the 10yr old range (typically where a car loses all the value it is going to lose) Anything older than 10yrs old and you can basically just make up an arbitrary dollar amount that the seller would accept… You are basically doing them a favor taking it off their hands so the price should reflect that.

As a mechanic you would not believe what I could buy for 4K, sure it may need a few things repaired but nevertheless I assure you…you would not believe what can be had for 4K…it surely would not be an 00’ Echo with over 1/4 million miles. This is a vehicle that you purchase for Hundreds…not Thousands of dollars.

yes i am serious tonight i go see the first toyota echo which is the one looking mor used but automatic transmission is ideal  i prefer to restore exterior as im used to it so body default and rust

I know nothing about these cars but from the picture I can smell the interior all the way to Minnesota. Roll those windows down in the hot sun. And pay particular attention to the banged up hood. You don’t want the thing to come unlatched at 50 mph.

I zoomed in . . .

The hood is literally rusted clean through :fearful:

And there’s some wiring sticking out . . . headlight connector?

Can’t expect much for pocket change . . .

Yikes! Yes, now that you mentioned it, I noticed the same thing.

I think that it might be a connector for a block heater.

In any event, I think that this hulk isn’t worth more than a few hundred $$
