Service Engine Soon Light

2001 Chevy Venture. it has come on twice and now stays on. I had it read and I believe the code was 449. Maybe PO449. The explanation was very non specific, something about cleaning injectors or valves. The guy at AutoZone shut his book before I could copy it down.

I just finished a weekend trip–450 miles total. Van ran fine as it always has. I had my mechanic look at it initially, a few months back and he said it was an emission warning and probably would be difficult to diagnose.

Any suggestions?

I looked up this code:

“P0449 Evaporative Emission Control System Vent Valve/Solenoid Circuit Malfunction”

I am not familiar with this malfunction but it seems that (at worst) you need to replace a solenoid. Surely there is a mechanic in your village who knows how to do this. Ask around, maybe even go to a GM dealership. BTW, this does not seem like an urgent repair.

Thank you for your prompt reply. It’s due for an oil change soon, so I’ll have the Village Mechanic take a look! If he can’t figure it out, maybe the Village Idiot can.
