great car, but in very wet conditions, water on the roads or slush, a load screaming sound comes from the engine. If I slow down, it lessens and goes away for a while. Or if the conditions become dry, it stops.
The likely culprit is a slipping drive or accessory belt due to moisture. Have your belts checked out.

I’m going to agree with Andrew. A slipping belt is the most likely source of the noise.
If the belts are original it’s time to replace them.
