my f250 is in great shape as far as body and engine goes. i only have 25,000 miles on it. but underneath is very rusty from sitting in my driveway, especially the brackets holding the bed up. I can’t afford a new truck, so what is my best option so i can keep the truck reliable for the next 5 years?
Try cleaning the brackets with a wire brush to see if it is normal surface rust or actually rusting out. The other thing is a body shop could look at it for a fee and give an accurate assessment.

Clean the loose rust off the brackets and coat it with POR-15. You might get 5 years out of it if the brackets aren’t too far gone already.
