These look crazy in a map but there’s one near me and surprisingly they work pretty well.
A blingier version of my illustration, but, it drives the point home.
It’s just from the website I posted in my post before… lol
Ah another sticky wicket can be opened here. Are roads on a university campus ‘public roads’? If so, then yes numerous speed bumps, if those road are not considered public, then the answer is none. On the other hand, many speed humps when I leave my city and cross onto county streets.
But yes, my comment was in just.
Like rotary, where I live Rotary is associated with public parks sponsored by local Rotary Clubs.
Of course we can drift off to another regional difference, is it soda or is it pop?
Depends on the school. Private schools - NO. State Schools - Maybe. University of NH has their own police force and traffic enforcement.
Neither, it’s a coke, they are all cokes… ![]()
“No Coke - Pepsi”
Here in many parts of New England it’s - Tonic.
And then there’s Milkshake or Frappe. A Frappe in many parts of the country is just a thicker Milkshake. Here in New England a Milkshake is Milk with a flavored syrup and then shaken up - NO ICE-CREAM.
Maybe the New Yorkers will chime in with egg cremes, which contain neither.
Now where did I put my Ovaltine decoder ring?
Down here in these parts of the woods it’s all called cokes, you could have a fridge full of Pepsi products and not a Coca-Cola product on the property, and it is still called a coke…
Now what can get confusing is when you have Coca-Cola products, Pepsi products etc all in the fridge and someone ask for a coke, you then ask them to specify… lol
Oh and don’t get me started on tea, it is only served with a 1/4 lb of sugar mixed in it… ![]()

It’s not Coke, it’s dope!
At least it used to be dope in the South. In the early 1940s my father was in DC awaiting his next assignment in the Navy. He walked up to a Coke stand and ordered a glass of dope, the term he was familiar with from South Carolina. The soda jerk had no idea what he was talking about, and that led to an argument. The soda stand guy called the cops on my father, and he was arrested for trying to buy drugs. The misunderstanding continued until a captain in the DC police intervened. He was also from the South and knew about the nickname. Crisis averted.
It’s not Coke, it’s dope!
Way back to the early last century Coke had ■■■■■■■ in it. Maybe that’s where the “dope” nickname came from!
Edit: There’s the little squares again! c_o_c_a_i_n_e

Coke or New Coke. Or is it Original Coke. It gets really confusing.
I have a relatives living in Atlanta. Very hard pressed to find a restaurant that carries anything but coke.
Years ago, Pepsi use to own KFC and Taco Bell. Many were franchise restaurants and sold Coke products. All the corporate stores switched to Pepsi when Pepsi bought them.

edit - Yep, spun them off in ‘97 (thought they still owned them) .YUM brands. They’re thinking of dumping Pizza Hut.

I beg to differ (that’s why I’m here!):
In many a CT diner, and locally owned ice cream shops, I personally saw them scoop actual ice cream into the machine to make my shakes.
YLMV (Your location may vary!)
As far as Pizza Hut, KFC etc, was at a symposium, went to lunch at Pizza Hut with some other attendees. One lady ordered a Coke, waiter said they had Pepsi, she says no I want coke, this went back and forth a few times, waiter gave up. Out comes our orders, of course hers has Pepsi in a glass, she did not know the difference. There was a consumer reports type TV show I used to ratchet. Lined up 50 Coke-only drinkers and 50 Pepsi-only drinkers, each group claimed they could tell the difference. They were presented with three unmarked colas. Which brand was preferred over all in this blind taste test? RC! Unfortunately for us consumers Coke and Pepsi have agreements with retailers on prominently displaying their brands.
I’m impartial to either Coke or Pepsi, even though I prefer the latter. Guess I’m more laid back about that whole thing, and if a place sells Coke not Pepsi, it’s all good!
The two franchises are certainly loaded with money, and so have no problem securing the most prominent shelf space in stores, as you stated.
I recently HAD(edit: I did type had the first time but it didn’t go through) the oppty to taste both Coke and Pepsi in an overseas market, and guess what, their Coke tastes more like American Pepsi! Win win! Their Pepsi though, more mediciney, leaving me yearning for more.
