And po’boys…
Maybe it’s a CA thing, but as a teen my first job was at a deli where our signature sandwich was a 16 inch “torpedo.”
Where I live in New Bern, NC they have an expansion project for US70 (soon to be I42). They are replacing 4 traffic signals with bridges and a whole slew of roundabouts. We already have a few here so we have a chance to get used to them. But US70 is really a highway except for these 4 traffic lights and at certain times of day the congestion is horrible.
As the roundabouts will relieve the congestion I say BRING THEM ON!
Torpedo is a name for them I have not heard before. Lived in California for four years, but we were in the desert 30 miles from town. When in town went to Jack in the Box or Taco Bell.
Purebred,
And In-n-out Burger!?
My mother is 81 and still living on her own. She has really limited the places she will drive due to her age. The only places she will drive herself to are the bank, post office, grocery store…and In-N-Out. ![]()
Yep, once, but I always was battling a weight issue, so any fast food is rare. Just wish I had pickups several of their bumper stickers,
I can’t post it here, but the bumper stickers were usually modified.
In-N-Out Burger
In-N-Out _urge_
I suppose that’s only as inappropriate as your mind makes it…
You’re wrong, and the point of contention is that they aren’t all the same, as the learned discussions to which I and others have referred explain.
That is correct.
That’s all anybody in Community has ever told me regarding any topic, I’m used to it!
It’s why several perfectly knowledgeable and talented participants in these forums stopped contributing to and responding here. They got tired of being told they were ‘wrong’ also, and had no more patience for it.
Hmm if Rotary traffic circle roundabouts reduce air pollution do the various departments of transportation counter that with speed humps&bumps?
How many speed bumps have you ever encountered on public roads? I can count on 1 hand the number I’ve seen in my 1 million plus driving miles. Whereas I can count at least a couple dozen Rotaries within a 20-mile radius of my house.
I think Purbred was trying to make a joke. I only see speed bumps in large parking lots , apartment complexes or parks where children might be running loose.
20 years ago I would encounter 4 speed humps on my 3 mile drive to work. They’re all over the place.
Speed Humps are in a lot of neighborhoods and slower speed areas… Speed Bumps are different of course…
Uh-oh, are there another 75 posts coming on that difference?
Speed bumps are a nightmare for plow drivers when it snows. Only place I ever see them are in a condo or apartment development. On public roads where speeds can reach 30mph or higher - never seen them
What’s that? Last winter I think we had 6 days with snow on the ground.
That’s exactly where you see them. Straight stretches through neighborhoods where the 25mph speed limit is regularly exceeded. I used to live across from a high school, there were 2 speed humps along my street before the next arterial. I would hit 2 more on the street that led to the kid’s daycare, that street was on a public bus route. The buses slowed way down for those humps.
Asemaster is talking about Speed Humps, Mike is talking about Speed Bumps, they are different…
