Just had a engine replaced in a 1991 volvo 240. After the replacment mechanics saids car shake at idle and he can not figure out why. Any suggestion?
Replaced with what? Factory short block? Salvage yard engine?
“Shake at idle” What does THAT mean?
Ditto, replaced with what ?
What previous condition led to replacing the engine ?
How many of which old parts were re-used ?
Might you now have a flywheel or harmonic balancer problem ? plugs, wires, motor mounts ?
Backyard mechanic or full on mechanic with a shop and was a repair order written? (I am trying to make a call on mechanic error).
Replaced with a salvage yard engine with 136,000 miles on it. It shakes when you have it in park. When you put it in drive it does not shake and drive fine on the highway. The engine was replaced because a head gaskit was blown on old engine.

I would try replacing the motor mounts…Is the replacement engine the same model year as your car?
