my 1998 mazda b2500 truck has an interminent problem with the alternatior. the alternator cuts out and it runs on the the batterty when there is a load on the system such as going up a hill or turning on the lights. It is a straight stick so if I push the cluth in and let it coast the alternator kicks back in and works. I have had the alternator replaced and the belt tensioner replaced the belt is good.
it does not always do this.
There may be a problem with the ground between the engine block and the chassis of the truck. Pushing in the clutch may complete this circuit.
