Quiet, comfortable tires for Acura RDX

In one of reachers novels, they bought Leo tires for something like $26 each. You never know if the research in a novel is accurate or not. Curios whether there was a nation wide pricing contract or not. Always wondered what the ran here because they’d zip along on snow or ice.

Back in the days when I had close access to the NJSP’s Chrysler New Yorker patrol cars, they were all shod with Goodyear Blue Streak racing tires, with an internal “safety spare” in the event of a puncture. However, that was many decades ago.

I had to look. Can’t remember the price but the GTs seem on par with the Continentals for my Mustang. My number one criteria on Tirerack was wet traction, second dry traction. The Firehawks were never mentioned.

They are Firehawk (GT) Pursuits, law enforcement tires, key word Pursuits

Very hard to find Firehawk Pursuit GT tire information online. Firestone doesn’t list them in my size 235/55 r17. I think I did see them on one search, yes, $100-200 more than my Continentals.

Probably because they are designed for law enforcement pursuit vehicles and not the general public… Firestone doesn’t even show them on their website for sale… But they are in the POS system, and they are not made in every size, only sizes used by LEO’s…

Again they are Pursuit tires… lol

Firestone makes a;
Firehawk AS,
Firehawk GT,
Firehawk Pursuit and a
Firehawk GT Pursuit
in your 215/55R17 size, that I can think of at this time.. Remember that even though the names (Firehawk GT and Firehawk GT Pursuit) are very close, they are different tires…

From what I saw, it wasn’t a very attractive tire. Rounded instead of a flatter tread like normal tires, and the tread pattern was weird like a motorcycle tire or something. Not sure why someone would want them unless being pursued.

I never judge a wheel or tire or both by their appearances.

A tire with a rounder profile will tend to track straighter (which is why motorcycle tires are rounded), and won’t be tugged side to side by road imperfections as will tires with wider/squarer shoulders.
