LOL, yeah, you gotta be sure the truck is well supported while you weld the gas tank!
He had to get it up that high so the gas in the tank would slosh away from where he was welding on the tank.
I know it’s a joke but that’s the opposite of what you’d want. The vapors are explosive, not the gas. Although the gas would dissipate the heat of welding making it harder to weld, the liquid gas behind the weld arc would suppress a potential explosion. I have, and would prefer, a completely full tank when doing repairs on, or near, gas tanks in situ…
