Find a new mechanic and move on. Trying to get money back after 12 visits is the definition of banging your head against the wall for no good reason except to end up with a sore head.

Yup!
And, if a BBB member shop is found to be “guilty” of bilking a customer, the most severe penalty that the BBB can impose is to refuse to accept that business’s membership dues. Because the BBB’s business model depends on those dues, they do this VERY rarely.
And, the business almost always continues to display the BBB logo, long after their membership was terminated.
