My wifes “93” olds 88 suffered a strange electrical problem, after starting the car in a parking lot it was running bad so she pulled over and shut off the A/C and CD player and it straightened out, while driving home however all the idiot lights on the dash started individualy flashing on and off and the CD player inadvertenly shot out the disc that was in it. the car was still running OK but she got nervous and drove it straight home. any ideas on a cause? could something have been resetting itself? or should I drive a wooden stake through it’s heart.
Try removing both ends of the battery cables (both of them) and cleaning both the cable and where it goes very well and reattaching making sure they are secure. You may want to check the ground for the dash/instrument panel.
Also check the static battery voltage and the voltage with the engine running.Get the charging system and battery checked. Low system voltage from the alternator or the alternator not charging at all can cause all kinds of weird things like this to happen.
