Please Help - Engine knock and then fail

Yes! Apologies I meant to post but my father fell ill so it’s been a hectic week.

Thankfully, the warranty company has approved it. They had a new engine shipped and is being installed this week. Anticipated completion date is Thursday or Friday of this week.

I am using this opportunity to sell the vehicle once it’s done. Luckily only 20k miles and no accidents or exterior damage so I can get a decent amount.

They simply are putting in the same type engine that’s a refurbished one. My warranty only has a couple of years left, not chancing getting lucky twice!

Good to hear but a new engine is sometimes a red flag for a sale and not a benefit. Makes people think what else might be wrong. Trading in would allow the pro sales people to deal with it. I got 200,000 miles on a Gm reman diesel though so wouldn’t be too upset.

2019 car with 20k miles. And new motor. You bought new and might sell it for 40%? I know a dealer would love to sell it as almost new. But, you are not a dealer. You barely used it. And now need to buy a different car. Certainly not the best financial plan.

The transmission failed in our minivan just before the warranty ran out and we avoided a $3000 replacement cost (2008). We kept the car with new transmission for another 9 years and 100,000 miles and never had a problem. My thought is that the trans was new and should outlive all the other components in the drivetrain. Glad your engine failure was covered.

I wonder if Infiniti even has new motors in stock? Maybe reman is only route?

It’s a 2019, the first year of the new generation. It’s also the current generation. I’m sure that there are engines available.

A reman engine, if done correctly, has had the factory screw up(s) corrected and will be much better than a new engine that may have the same problem as the one being replaced… Same with transmissions…
