Overheating problem sound

Car has been overheating, I hear a squealing sound. Once I start to accelerate more it seems to lower the temperature back to normal. I’ve changed the thermostat and I know it isn’t the water pump.

Have you checked if the electric radiator cooling fans are turning on?

Tester

Yes they are driven with the water pump

What year is your Explorer?

Tester

It’s a 2007 with a 6 cyl engine

There’s an electronic radiator fan that comes on when the AC is turned on.

And there’s also an electronic fan clutch that controls the radiator fan speed depending on the temperature.

I’d be looking at the electronic fan clutch.

Tester

Oh thank you I’ll check that out
