Direct metal to metal strikes will be best compared to yanking on it. Controlling a drift and large mass sledge is a lot easier standing up with the car on a lift but it can be done laying on your back with the car on stands. Living proof.
Took about 2 min on utube to find video of rear subie bearing job. Seems the bearings do separate during removal. If the hub flange is gone then there is nothing left to use the bolt press method. Air hammer can be used to try and rotate what’s left of inner flange. But that means you need compressor and air hammer. This is what you would like to see. Not 2 pieces.
