OK to take old car on long drive?

The date stamps are a bit iffy as to the way they are listed, the location to the side, and the somewhat lighter shade of text. When someone is thinking problem it’s easy to overlook the older posts. Made that mistake myself a few times as have a few other long timers so no need to apologize.

I made a trip halfway across the country once in a 10 dollar car with nothing done to it at all before leaving except checking the motor oil and engine coolant levels. No issues at all other than a flat tire.

On the other hand a friend of mine had a valve job done on his old 6 cylinder GMC truck in Indiana and used 24 quarts of oil between there and OK. Once back he found out why. They forgot to install the valve stem seals…
