I just bought a 1969 ford f100 ranger with a 1979 351 clevland engine. It had sat for 5 years when i got it. It started fine and has no black smoke but i cannt get any oil pressure. Is this motor done or is there something i can do to fix it cheaply
What are you using to measure the oil pressure?
Check the oil pressure with a calibrated oil pressure gauge. The dash gauge may be defective. If the check shows no oil pressure then see a good, independent mechanic. Did you change the oil?
How did you determine there is no oil pressure? The dash gauge? They are not reliable after 40 years…NOTHING on this vehicle will be reliable.
Check the oil pressure with a mechanical gauge connected to where the oil-pressure sender is now, usually near the oil filter…
