Oil filters

The 2.7 and the 3.5 are totally different engines. The 2.7 and the 3.2 were the same, DOHC, direct actuating lifters etc. The 3.5 is a SOHC with rocker arms. Its a very simple and functional design and has the cam riding in a bath of oil so it never gets dry.

Well me post disappeared,did I endorse some product too heartily? Anyway thanx Guys and can anyone give me a number for a Fram or Purilator Hydraulic filter to fit my TSC woodsplitter?

@keith: Actually the 3.5 is a twin-cam (1 in each head) engine with 4 valves per cylinder. But I guess you could consider it SOHC since each cam does operate both intake and exhaust valves for its side.

Actually actually the 3.5 is a SOHC with 4 valves/cylinder:

@oblivion

SOHC = one cam per head
DOHC = two cams per head

A SOHC inline 4 or 8 will have on cam , a DOHC inline 4 or 6 will have two cams
A SOHC V6 ,V8, or V12 will have two cams, a DOHC V6, V8, or V12 will have four cams

I stand corrected on my semantics… can we now resume our fairly pointless discussion on oil filters and wherever else this has wandered? lol :slight_smile:

I enjoy french toast in the morning sometimes, but not always.

Anyone have production numbers for dodge 2.7/3.2/3.5? Is it 50% 2.7, 20%3.2, 30%3.5? I used to see many 2.7 junk cars for sale and much less, almost no 3.2 cars. If 3.2 design and 2.7 design are same, why do very few 3.2 cars die with oil/overheating issues?

I have no problem with Fram oil filters…

I dunno. All of my equipment like lawn mowers and snow blowers are red but all my oil filters are blue.

This thread reminds me of this phrase I recently learned: http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=disaster+porn

On the topic of computers, thanks for the education, guys. I typically upgrade my own PCs, adding faster memory and maybe adding an additional cooling fan or two. Now I know what to look for if I want to buy a dirt cheap PC, crack it open, and make some upgrades. I just bought a refurbished Dell PC online, upgraded the RAM, and installed a high end graphics card so I could hook it up to a HDTV for entertainment purposes. It doesn’t have the fastest processor, but with 64-bit architecture and DDR2 memory, it seems pretty darn fast for an $80 computer.

Some of these other cheap computers from Wallmart is it’s difficult to upgrade the memory. Their mother-board only has 2 slots for memory. And they can only handle 4gb Dimms. So you may buy one thinking you’ll upgrade the memory…but then when you open it up you find out you can’t. When every I buy a new computer I usually buy it with the max memory it’ll handle. Right now my personal laptop has 32g. And I also only buy SSD drives. Faster, much more reliable…and with a laptop it can take a little more abuse then a non SSD drive.
