Oh, yes they have plows! Plows with tanks of salt solution they slather all over the roads when there is but a hint of snow. Not sure why they didnāt have plows out when you crossed.
I think our paths may have crossed in that storm. I attended my father in laws funeral in East Detroit about then. Pretty close to St Clair Shores where my wife grew up. Our trip back to Dayton was through a big snow storm. Same deal, few plows and Jeeps in the ditch.
Additionalā¦driving across the state of Ohio diagonally Clevelend to Cincy take 4.5 hours. Top to bottom Toledo to Cincy takes 3 hours. Diagonal the other way Toledo to the W Va border takes rougly 5.5 hours.
Now driving Michgan from Monroe around the UP to Escanaba, that takes forever⦠a good 12 hours.
Florida top to bottom ending at Key West will take 12 hours⦠across the state 2.5 hours.
Texas East to West takes 17 hours.
